Dozens of teams rowing as Dragon Boat Festival makes its return

The Lake Superior Dragon Boat Festival is returning this weekend for the first time since 2019.

The festival took two years off during the COVID-19 pandemic, but this weekend, nearly 50 teams will be rowing dragon boats in the harbor near Barker’s Island.

Festivities kicked off Friday evening with live music on Barker’s Island. Races begin at 8 a.m. Saturday, with games and prizes starting at 10 a.m. and the food trucks and beer tents opening at 11 a.m.

23rd Veteran is the 2022 charitable partner. They are organizing a 5k Fun Run at 11 a.m. Saturday.

The Rotary Club of Superior hosts the Dragon Boat Festival. It has raised over $1.3 million for charitable organizations.
