Douglas County Genealogy Club hosts free workshop

The Douglas County Genealogy Club hosted a free genealogy workshop at the Douglas County Historical Society on Friday evening. Those who attended were able to win door prizes, learn about their family tree and hear from experts on the subject.

The first speaker was board certified genealogist Paula Stuart-Warren. She talked about   “Deeds: More than Land”. Paula has written many articles on genealogy as well as authored Minnesota Genealogical Reference Guide and co-authored the best-selling Your Guide to the Family History Library: How to Access the World’s Largest Genealogy Resource. She currently edits her own blog, Genealogy by Paula.

The second speaker was Sara Cochran, The Skeleton Whisperer. She presented a program on “Missing: Reward! Locating Widows, Spinsters, and Bachelors”. Sara is a professional genealogist with over twenty-five years of research experience. Her research has taken her into nearly every State in the USA, Ireland, and Britain. She holds a Boston University Genealogical Research Certificate, a bachelor’s degree in library science, and is an alumnus of the ProGen Study Group.
