Garage in Midway Township destroyed by fire Friday

Multiple fire departments battled a structure fire in Midway Township on Friday afternoon. The fire was reported shortly after 3:00 p.m. According to the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office, a call came in that a detached garage was on fire in the 5500 block of Pine Hill Road.

The report said the fire was starting to spread towards the house. WDIO had a crew on scene and they said the structure has burned to the frame. Authorities say when the first fire units arrived, the garage was a total loss.

Firefighters were able to put out the fire that had spread to the home. According to the Sheriff’s Office, two dogs were rescued. No one was on scene at the time of the fire and there were no injuries reported.

The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office, Hermantown, Solway and Proctor Fire Departments, U.S. Air National Guard fire trucks were all on scene. There was a lot of smoke and fire as crews worked to put out the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, however authorities say that it doesn’t appear suspicious in nature.
