The City of Duluth invited the community to a public information meeting regarding the extension of Sixth Avenue E. The project covers several tasks including the extension of 6th Avenue E from E 2nd Street to E 1st Street, including a new street and sidewalk along the east side. It also covers the construction of retaining walls along the street, the construction of a turnaround and dead ending the alley below 2nd Street before 6th Avenue E, and the replacement and the installation of a new water service.

Project officials told WDIO that meetings like these are important because the feedback the gain from the public better helps them to continue improving their work long after the project is finished. The design and engineering of the project is nearly complete, with preliminary construction scheduled for 2023 and most of the work to take place in 2024.
