Changes coming for E-pulltabs after legislative session

A disappointing development for E-pulltab operators coming out of the legislative session.

A provision in the tax bill makes all current games illegal as of December 31, 2024.

Charitable gambling organizations had feared changes would cut into the revenue, and said the provision is worse than what was talked about earlier in the session.

Keith Franke, Executive Director of Protect Our Charities, said the language was added on Friday and had little time for any discussion. There will be no ‘open all’ features or bonus features.

“All along these charities and small businesses followed the rules. Now that the stadium is paid off, now we are eliminating this funding. I’m just outraged at this point,” Franke said.

They are projecting a $100 million dollar loss for the charities.

Franke said the language is similar to what the casinos had been pushing for earlier in the session.

We reached out to the Minnesota Indian Gaming Association for comment, but have not heard back yet.
