Ceremony held for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Relatives

Duluth hosts MMIW rally at City Hall

The 4th Annual Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Relatives awareness event was May 6th and started at Duluth City Hall with an opening ceremony.

Chantel Moose’s family and Peter Martin’s family joined Duluth Mayor Rodger Reinert and Superior Mayor Jim Paine at the event.

Chantel Moose was murdered on April 12th in Duluth. Peter Martin is a missing person. He was last seen March 8th in the Mahnomen neighborhood of the Fond Du Lac Reservation.

The event hosted drumming, singing, dancing, and public art. The event also held a rally and march to the community memorial for Chantel Moose and then back City Hall.

The City of Duluth also lit Engar Tower red in recognition and support of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Relatives.
