Cause for the Paws 5k raising money in the rain

On a very foggy Saturday down at Barker’s Island Wisconsin, dog owners gathered for the Cause for the Paws 5k walk/run.

The Douglas County Humane Society held the event to raise money for shelters in the county.

Saturday’s 5k marked the organization’s 24th year hosting the event.

However, they most likely had dryer runs. Saturday’s event was rained on and lightning actually pushed the event back a bit.

We talked to Cheri Fitch the Fundraising and Events Coordinator at the Douglas County Humane Society who spoke on the amount of people that came out. She said, “We had less preregistration than usual, but lots of people are showing up day of which is perfect.”

And even if a few dogs got wet they were still happy to be there to raise money for those yet to find a forever home.
