Canadian man rescues two girls from drowning after hearing cries for help

The Duluth Fire Department responded to two simmers in distress South of Lake Avenue.

Officials say that two girls were swept out into the lake and instantly taken off their feet in waist deep water. They were then rescued by Mr. Branislav Molnar of Toronto Canada as he heard the girls crying for help.

Authorities say both girls are now safe at home and no medical attention was required.

This morning, the fire department says the National Weather Service issued a beach hazard warning people about rip currents. The beach flags were also changed to red following the advisory.

Officials note that if there is a red flag displayed, you should not swim due to unsafe conditions in the water
