Boys and Girls Clubs of the Northland select new Youth of the Year winner

The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Northland Board of Directors were joined by local business leaders and honored youth on Thursday evening to celebrate the organization’s annual “Youth of the Year” event at the Clyde Iron Works.

During the event, judges interviewed the nominees and heard each youth’s story before selecting this year’s Youth of the Year winner, Jaylee “Birdie” Engstrom. Engstrom will now participate in a state competition for the chance to compete on the national level. The National Youth of the Year receives up to an additional $50,000 scholarship and is installed by the President of the United States.

This year’s community leader guest judges for the Youth of the Year competition were Tiffany Hughes of A & L Properties, Matt Gunn of Cenovus Energy and Kaitlin Zenner of WDIO.
