The organization Best Christmas ever teamed up with members of the community to help bring holiday cheer to the Stanina family Saturday evening in Nashwauk, Minnesota.

Earlier in the year, an explosion at the Staninas’ family home sent 5 members of the family to the hospital and left the home unlivable.

Going into the holiday season, they were nominated to be helped by Best Christmas Ever, an organization that says, “We lift up families that have fallen on tough times by giving them a Best Christmas Ever!”

“Our team got together and we actually had a lot of really deserving families that were nominated
and we chose this family just because what they’ve gone through this year. They’ve had a very, very difficult year,” explained team captain Natalie Gustafson. “They’re just coming together as a family back in their home as of last night. So, it’s perfect timing to celebrate.”

On Saturday night, Best Christmas Ever teammates joined with members of the community to surprise the family.  With help from relatives, they were able to show up to their new home singing carols and with presents in hand.

“Donations come for the community,” said volunteer Joe Plucinak. “People give gifts and money and their time to the family. This team was amazing. They even had a ramp built for the family table to be wheelchair accessible into the home.”

The Stanina’s family will also soon be going to a lake resort as part their Best Christmas Ever gift.
