Will Hershey bars or Sour Patch Kids come out on top?

That is the question on the ballot for kids at Raleigh Academy.

The 4th and 5th graders are learning about the election process, from start finish.

That meant voter registration, primaries, campaigning, and then voting. And the topic? Candy!

Their teacher, Mrs. Denise Carlino, said, “There’s research out there that shows if you get kids involved when they’re school aged, they will participate in greater numbers as they get older.”

On election day, kids brought their voter registration cards to the ballot box.

Update from Mrs. Carlino: Sour Patch Kids won the day!
