2024 IRE Engineering Expo gives students a chance to problem solve

Successful IRE Engineering Expo on the Range

High school students enjoyed the 2024 IRE Engineering Expo in Virginia on Friday.

The IRE Engineering Expo at Minnesota North Mesabi is a great experience for high school students interested in engineering.

Nearly 100 of them got to play some games in the gym, listen to engineers share about their experiences, and try hands-on activities with Iron Range Engineering college students.

Logan Meyer, a senior at the Northland Learning Center, said he enjoys making solutions and mechanized things.

Iron Range Engineering and the Range Engineering Council work together on this event.

IRE students sure looked like they were having fun too.

Christine Kennedy, IRE Director of Student Success, shared, “Our students believe in a sense of community and believe in supporting and helping bring this to the youth. We couldn’t do this without everyone who helped coordinate it.”

Some of the engineers from industries like mining, paper, and regulatory agencies shared that engineering is like a super power, because you solve problems. And it’s a versatile degree, that can take you anywhere in the world.
