Northland Strong: Dom the bus driver

Dom Sereno is living his dream of becoming a school bus driver. His inspiration was his former driver, Penny, who he shared long chats with.

“It is surreal. I was riding this bus, and then a few months after graduating, was driving it,” he shared.

He is 19-years-old, and is the youngest driver for Rock Ridge. “I get a lot of looks, like, are you old enough to drive this bus?

He is behind the wheel of #14 every day, and he loves it. “I love my kids. My kids are great. Sorry other drivers, but I have a good group of kids.”

The bus is decked out for Halloween. And it changes with each holiday.

Finn, one of the afternoon riders, said, “He does some pretty good decorations.”

That’s just one of the reasons they love him too.

“He plays fun songs on the radio. He’s young. He’s one of the best drivers I’ve ever had,” Aubrey shared.

Along with the fun, Dom makes sure to check on them, as well. “I can tell if something is a little off,” he shared.

The schedule also gives him a chance to have lunch with his grandparents every day, which he calls a gift.

We salute you, Dom! Thanks for being Northland Strong.
