Captain Paul Winterscheidt was sworn in as the new Chief of Police in Superior on Monday.

Winterscheidt, when speaking to the press, said he would take the lessons from those who proceeded while also looking forward in his new role.

“I worked with three police chiefs here and they all taught me in different parts of law enforcement. I think they all taught me something to bring to the table and I appreciated that. ,” explained Winterscheidt. “Going forward we’re going to look to drive the department forward in the the future. We’re going to look for ways to innovate and look for ways to express our empathy, compassion, and respect toward the community that we serve.”

Winterscheidt has served with the Superior Police Department for more than 18 years.

He was proceeded by Police Chief Nick Alexander who recently retired.
