Resurfacing project to begin on US-2 in Gogebic County

Beginning Monday, May 13, crews with the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will be working on resurfacing nearly 18 miles of US-2 from Great Lakes Road to Gogebic Station. The cost of the project is $10.3 million.

Officials say the section of the road will move to one lane of alternating traffic during daytime hours only. An 11-foot lane width restriction will be in place during the project. See map.

MDOT says the work will include asphalt crushing and shaping, asphalt milling and resurfacing, drainage improvements, realignment of the M-64 south junction intersection, and pavement markings. The project is expected to continue until early October.

There is also a lane shift for Railroad Street to US-45 lane shift from May 15 through September 25.
