Open house at Superior Fire Department

On Saturday October 21th, The Superior Fire Department hosted their annual open house at the Headquarters fire station located at 3326 Tower Ave.

The event provided an opportunity for parents to bring their kids on an interactive tour of the facility, as the department hopes to get them interested in becoming future firefighters.

In an interview with WDIO News the Fire Chief, Camron Volbrecht spoke about other services the department provide apart from responding to fire calls.

“We run the EMS medical calls. So, 911 medical calls. We also have a dive team over in Douglas County, which is a partnership between the sheriff’s department, the city police department, as well as the city fire department. We have a hazmat team. We are the regional hazmat team for the Northwest corner of Wisconsin. We also do rescue like technical rescue, trench rescue, industrial rescue, and confined space.”

The open house featured fire truck tours, fire prevention education, rescue demonstrations as well as a car seat checkup clinic. Sparky the Fire Pup was also on hand along with Superior Firefighters as guests check out two electric response vehicles and the department’s newest fire truck.
