Fire crews respond to structure fire in Duluth

At 5:56p.m. Monday evening, Duluth Fire Department was dispatched to a call of a structure fire at 2220 W Sixth Street. Crews from Headquarters, Station 2, and Station 8 responded. 2 Engine was first on the scene at 6:01p.m. and found flames burning on the rear exterior of a single-family dwelling, which they quickly extinguished with a 1 ¾” hose line. The fire was limited to the exterior of the building thanks to DFD’s quick response.
A powerline was downed in the incident. Coincidentally, DFD participated earlier today in training from Minnesota Power on how to safely respond to incidents with downed powerlines, which was of great help in this incident response. Thanks in part to quick action on behalf of a neighbor calling 911 upon observing fire on the backside of the structure, no injuries were reported. The resident and family pets
escaped without incident. Duluth Fire Department thanks its partners at Duluth Police Department, Minnesota Power, and St. Louis County 911 dispatch for their assistance in the response to this incident.
