Duluth woman announces candidacy for School Board, District 2

Sarah Mikesell has announced her candidacy for a seat on the Duluth School Board.

Looking to represent District 2, Mikesell believes strong public schools are the heart of a community. “I am ready to work for our students and staff in order to help Duluth Public Schools better fulfill its mission of working to inspire every student to achieve their potential and preparing students to lead productive, fulfilling lives as citizens of Duluth and the wider world. Together, we can be sure our schools provide effective, equitable and high quality education for all of our learners.”

Mikesell is a mom of two children in Duluth Public Schools with a background in nursing. She says her career in various settings provides her with critical thinking skills, and advanced training in quality improvement.

Current District 2 School Board Member, David Kirby, is a supporter of Mikesell’s candidacy. “I am excited to support Sarah in her campaign for Duluth School Board. Over the years, I have seen her advocate on behalf of our students and staff in well-informed and respectful ways. Above all else, Sarah is committed to the students and families in our District and will be an excellent School Board member.”

Mikesell is hosting a campaign kickoff event on Thursday, March 23 at Hoops Brewing from 5:30-7:30pm.
