Canosia Township structure fire from malfunctioning surge protector

On December 30th, 2022 St. Louis County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched around 5:40pm to the 5700 block of N Pike Lake Rd in Canosia Township for a structure fire. Upon arriving to the home, smoke was coming out of a single-family residence.

The house had sustained significant damage from the structure fire, but it was not a total loss. According to Canosia Fire Dept., it appeared the fire possibly started due to a malfunctioning surge protector. There is no suspicions of foul play along with no loss of life or injury.

The following departments responded to assist: St. Louis County Rescue Squad, Canosia Fire, Fredenberg Fire, Air Guard Fire, Grand Lake Fire, Hermantown Fire and Solway Fire.
