Applications open for Duluth Citizen Police Academy

The Duluth Police Department is looking for 24 people who are interested in understanding police
operations to attend its 2024 Citizen Police Academy.

The experience offers members of the community both in-field and in the classroom experiences, involving different tactics, operations, and divisions of the Duluth Police Department

It’s also a place where you can ask questions about DPD practices and procedures and learn the reasons for them.

“Community safety is all our responsibility, and the Citizen Police Academy is an opportunity for us to
work with members of our community to make Duluth a safe place for all who live, work, and play
here,” said Chief Mike Ceynowa.

This academy will take place every Wednesday from 6 – 9 p.m. starting March 6 until May 22.

To apply, fill out am application and criminal history form on the DPD’s website and return the
documents by emailing police@duluthmn.gov or dropping it off at the Public Safety Building (2030 N
Arlington Ave).

Those accepted to participate in the 2024 Citizen Police Academy will be contacted at the end of
February with more details.
