Companies to Classrooms, Duluth’s free store for teachers, opened for its tenth year Wednesday.

The non-profit one store held out of the Historic Old Central High School helps teachers from 15 area school districts have the supplies they need for their classrooms.

Teachers can shop monthly at the store for up to 15 items, all for free.

“I’ve been a teacher in the Duluth area schools for the past 13 years and have come to rely on C2C for much needed supplies in my first years and continue to value their mission as I’ve moved schools and changed positions,” shared teacher Heather Prout.

In the 2020-2021 school year, the store hosted 410 shopping trips where 29,959 items with a value of $49,781 were given away to teachers, all while observing COVID-19 restrictions.

Currently, Companies to Classrooms is seeking a new space to move the store starting in October.
