- Tuesday, November 26 – Council 5 AFSCME Food & Fund Drive and Rally at Duluth City Hall, Priley Circle from 11:45 AM – 12:45 PM. All Duluth Local 66 AFSCME, Council 5 Members and the public is invited. Bring an item to donate to Second Harvest Northland. Dress warm. Help to make sure everyone in the community has a warm and nourishing meal this holiday season. Most needed items include: Canned Tuna or chicken packed in water, peanut butter, canned vegetables, fruits in light syrup or low sugar applesauce, soup, pasta, tomato sauce, boxed meals, 100% juice (no glass), Cereal and snack items like cereal bars.
- Thursday, November 28 – Gobble Gallop Races in Downtown Duluth. The first of the three races begins at 8:50 a.m. All races will start and end on London Road near 12th Avenue East. Details at https://www.gobblegallop.com/
- Thursday, November 28 – 7th annual free meal on Thanksgiving Day for veterans and their families at the Richard I Bong Veterans Historical Center from 11 AM – 3 PM. With the help of Manitou Inn and the Pattison Park Lion’s Club. There will be turkey, ham, numerous sides and dessert. Watch the football game or enjoy live music from Mark Connaly and the Superior High School orchestra members in the museum gallery. Pickup and delivery are also available. RSVP is required. - Friday, November 29 – Erin and Jacob’s Memorial Run, Walk, Bike to remember the victims tragically killed in a murder-suicide on November 4. Meet in the parking lot of the Lower Chalet of Spirit Mountain. Run west out-and-back on the DWP. All are welcome. The date chosen is Erin Abramson’s birthday. The community can walk, run or bike up to 4.8 miles in honor of her 48th birthday. Event organizers are also hoping to raise money for scholarship programs that Erin and Jacob Nephew were passionate about including the Duluth Superior Symphony and Youth Orchestra, Marshall School’s Nordic Ski Team and Moms Demand Action. - Friday, November 29 – Saturday, November 30 – Enjoy a day of holiday cheer in downtown Spooner at the Festival of Trees Friday. There will be 14 designer-decorated trees created by folks in the community, a live auction at 6 p.m. in the Parlor Room Saturday to bid on these trees, live music by Blu Kanu from 7 to 9 p.m. and more. There will be a free tree viewing and holiday drinks. All proceeds will benefit the Lakeland Family Resource Center in Spooner, which helps families and children in need during the season.

(CASDA) announces their very first Black Friday fundraiser, “Give the Gift of Healing” online auction from 8 a.m., Nov. 29 to 8 p.m. on Dec. 15. Funds raised will ensure that victims and survivors of abuse will continue to have safe shelter as well as vital outreach and advocacy services during their journey in healing. Items up for bid include orchestra tickets, lottery ticket bouquet, wine bundles, car detailing, play/dinner restaurant tickets, event gift certificates, skin care sessions, and more. - Saturday, November 30 – The American Indian Community Housing Organization (AICHO) and Indigenous First Art & Gift Shop will host their annual winter market, “Biboon Bimaadiziwin: Winter Good Life” from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Dr. Robert Powless Cultural Center, 212 W. 2nd Street in Duluth. The market features over 25 small, local and regional Indigenous and BIPOC businesses, artists, entrepreneurs, food producers, jewelry and fashion designers & more! Elders and those who have accessibility needs are invited to shop between 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. An ugly sweater competition will be held at 12 p.m. and all attendees are welcome to participate.
- Saturday, November 30 – Small Business Saturday is a nationwide initiative that supports local businesses and encourages consumers to shop small. There are a number of businesses throughout the Northland participating. Grab your holiday gift list and shop local.

- Tuesday, December 3 – Live Nativity scene at Benedictine Living Community-Duluth, 935 Kenwood Avenue at 2:30 p.m. Volunteer staff and community members will be joined by live animals, including a camel will be on hand bringing joy and wonder of the healing message of the Christmas story. This is a free event for the public. There will be caroling and a social time with refreshments following. The event will also have a memory tree and a canned food drive for the food shelf. - Wednesday, December 4 – Head of the Lakes United Way’s Winter Day of Caring. The Day of Caring is a community-wide event where hundreds of volunteers complete projects for local non-profit agencies. Not only does Day of Caring provide non-profits with valuable resources, it is also a great opportunity to educate volunteers about the important work non-profit organizations do in our community. Recruit your friends, family or co-workers to lend a hand. Volunteer sign-up closes on Monday, December 2nd. - Friday, December 6 – Saturday, December 7 – The College of St. Scholastica Music Program presents its 12th annual Christmas concert, O Holy Night at 7:30 p.m. Featuring over 100 musicians, including St. Scholastica students and community members. Choral, brass, string and handbell ensembles will share the Christmas story and spirit through an unforgettable evening of music composed as early as the 18th century and as recently as 2023. The concert ends with all choirs singing “Night of Silence” joined by CSS choir alumni from the audience. A freewill offering will be collected to benefit Chum, a local nonprofit human services agency, to raise donations for their work with low-income and homeless community members. Tickets are $17 for general admission. Admission is free for students pre-K to college and for Sisters of the St. Scholastica Monastery. It’s an after-hours event featuring giant animal inflatables plus an assortment of holiday-themed lights and photo opportunities. There will be free S’mores, visits from Santa every night, Safari Cafe will have Hot Chocolate and Treats, and live holiday music. Tickets are $10 general admission, $5 for Zoo members. Dates include: Dec. 6 & 7; 13 & 14; 20 & 21 from 5 PM – 7:30 PM

- Sunday, December 8 & Tuesday, December 10 – The University of Wisconsin-Superior Music Department will present its 27th annual Season of Song concerts at Cathedral of Christ the King, 1111 Belknap St., in Superior. The theme this year is ‘Love’s Pure Light’ featuring the UW-Superior choirs and orchestra performing holiday classics, new favorites and everything in between. It is the traditional sketch comedy revue for which Rubber Chicken Theater is known, featuring original sketches and song parodies that have fun with Minnesota news items and general holiday silliness. Performed at Studio Four in the St. Louis County Depot, 506 West Michigan Street in downtown Duluth. Tickets are $25 per person. Seating is general but call-ahead spot reservations are accepted. Seats are held until 7:20. Cash or Venmo only. There will be a second weekend of performances on December 27-28. The Rubber Chicken Theater also has presents ‘New Year’s Cluckin’ Eve’ on December 31.
