Wreath making and tree cutting at Boulder Lake

Boulder Lake Environmental Learning Center is offering several opportunities over the next few weeks to cut down a christmas tree and make wreaths. The forest materials that are used to make these wreaths are sustainably harvested at Boulder Lake.

The do-it-yourself wreath kits are now on sell until December 20th, the sizes range from 12’’to 8’’. Inside the kits, it contains a metal wreath frame, balsam fir, accents like pine, spruce, dogwood, cones and a how-to-video on making some creative pieces.

This fundraiser is an opportunity to participate in non-timber and sustainable forestry practices as well, says Mr. Hueffmeier. Glensheen mansion will be hosting a wreath-making workshop on November 29th and 30th and December 1st and 2nd from 6-8 p.m.

The director of Boulder Lake talks about going out and experiencing nature’s beauty. "You have to go venture into the woods, depending on where you venture depends on the quality of tree you’re going to find. So it’s just a fun way to get people out and enjoy the environment", said Ryan hueffmeier.
