About 20 people who work at Aramark in Hibbing are now on strike. They have been since Tuesday.

Shelly Skalksy, the strike captain, said she loves her job, but not the conditions. "They now have us do the job of two people, it’s just so overwhelming. And then they are now paying the temps $16 an hour," she said. "There are people who’ve worked here for a long time who only make $14 an hour."

The Teamsters said they’ve been negotiating with Aramark for a raise. According to the union, about 20 people have quit in recent weeks.

Aramark takes care of linens, uniforms, rugs, and other items for businesses across the region.

Aramark sent a statement, saying: "We regret that the union and the employees have made the decision to strike. The Company intends to continue negotiating over the issues in good faith with the goal of reaching a settlement that works for everyone. We have contingency plans in place to ensure that services are not interrupted during this job action."
