Woman dies after January pedestrian crash in Superior

The Superior Police Department says a woman has died after being struck by a vehicle last month.

The pedestrian was hit by an SUV in the 300 block of Belknap Street on the evening of Jan. 29.

Police say the driver of the SUV fully cooperated with the investigation, saying that he did not see the woman in the roadway. He was initially cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

Police say they learned on Tuesday that the woman had passed away. Her name is not being released due to a crime victims rights law.

Once the investigation is complete, the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office will consider whether to file criminal charges in the case.
