With Mannion on COVID list, Vikings sign Sloter

After backup quarterback Sean Mannion was placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list last week, the Minnesota Vikings have signed a new quarterback to the active roster, according to Twin Cities affiliate KSTP.

The team signed Kyle Sloter, who was with Minnesota from 2017-2018. Most recently, Sloter spent time on the Las Vegas Raiders practice squad earlier this year.

Additionally, the Vikings signed tackle Rick Leonard to the practice squad. His signing comes a day after the team placed right guard Oli Udoh on the COVID list, further cutting into the depth of the offensive line.

To make room for Sloter and Leonard, the Vikings waived two practice squad players: tight end Brandon Dillon and wide receiver Damion Ratley.
