Winter storm starts to wind down

Our winter storm is finally winding down as of Tuesday evening. We will still see some lingering snowfall, especially for the South Shore of Lake Superior. Heaviest amounts tonight will be through Ashland and Iron counties in Wisconsin and Gogebic County in Michigan. Travel conditions remain a concern as roads are listed as snow covered and slippery across Northern Minnesota and Northwest Wisconsin.

Bitter cold will follow the snow. Dangerous wind chills are expected Wednesday through Friday.

Strong winds and cold temperatures will produce wind chill values of 20 to 25 below for a large portion of the area.

A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for the Northland through midnight tonight. Additional accumulations is possible, especially for Iron County in Wisconsin and Gogebic and Ontonagon counties in Michigan where an addition 5-10 inches are possible through 7am/6am.

A Wind Chill Advisory will be in effect from midnight tonight through 11 a.m. Wednesday for North Itasca, Beltrami, Crow Wing, Cass, Koochiching, North St. Louis counties.
