Well the snowy winter is finally here for most of us in the Northland! And a lot of us have to drive through it so staying safe is on a lot of our minds.

Minnesota saw a total of 221 crashes statewide Saturday, 15 of those just happened in Duluth alone.

Safety starts with it brushing off your car and making sure all the windows are clear.

And while hitting the road always pay attention and take it slow. And increase that following distance. You want to have enough time to decelerate and accurate back up again.

For supplies in your car, AAA says drivers should have extra food, water, warm clothing, a flashlight, a shovel, and blankets, incase things go wrong.

Another thing to keep your life easy and convenient is to keep an eye on the weather. Especially in Duluth you need to be aware of snow emergencies because if your car is parked by one of these signs you’re going to have to move.

Out of the 221 accidents on Minnesota saw Saturday 25 of them were fatal, so we want everyone to remain safe for this season.
