Where you can park for a Duluth snow emergency

With the winter on the way and the new Duluth snow emergency system being enforced this year many Duluthians still have questions on how parking is going to work. Along with the Northland Alert System new parking lots have been organized.
The city has now has a full list of the eight sites (which are listed below) that the public can park at for free when they need to move vehicles. Six of them reside in and around Canal Park and two of them are in West Duluth.
And once you do park, you’ll ample amount of time to leave your car in the amnesty lot. Community Relations Officer Alicia Kozlowski says, "So you’ll have until 6:00pm on day one of a snow emergency, and until day two at 8:00pm [you will have] to be able to move your car.”
And on that first day be sure to move your car between 4:00pm and 9:00pm or else you’ll get a ticket.
And as for how you’d get back… Well it’s up to you to find a way back. Kozlowski adds, "All of the locations are on the bus routes, there’s the taxies that are available, Lyft and Uber service. Encouraging all those mulit-modes of transportation to be able to get not only to the snow emergency parking lot but back."
And when the snow emergency is announced be sure to move your car between 4:00pm and 9:00pm or else you’ll get a ticket.
So the city is hoping that the community comes together to stay as safe as possible. "We are really encouraging the buddy system of course making a plan, neighbors helping neighbors. Whether it’s neighbors helping neighbors offering up parking spaces, businesses, places of worship, or schools could do that as well”, says Kozlowski.
