Walz to co-chair Biden’s Council of Governors

Gov. Tim Walz (D-Minn.) has been appointed as co-chair of President Joe Biden’s Council of Governors.

Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine (R) will be his co-chair.

The council is made up of 10 bipartisan governors who advise the secretaries of Defense and Homeland Security as well as the White House Homeland Security Council related to matters of the National Guard.

"In addition to their federal mission, the National Guard was critical in responding to civil unrest and helping our nation fight COVID-19," Walz said in a press release. "I look forward to continuing to work with other governors and our federal partners to support the National Guard and advise on matters related to homeland defense and civil support."

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) is also on the council.
