UWS tennis off to first-ever NCAA tournament

In a narrow 5-4 victory over Northwestern Saturday the UWS men’s tennis team earned the UMAC playoff title for their first ever NCAA tournament berth.

They earned the automatic bid and today learned their first round opponent..Illinois’ north central college.

"All season we’ve been working really hard to get to where we are today. This is our first time making our appearance here at this tournament really im just really excited to be a part of this," said junior Michael Janes.

They carry a 16-5 overall record, and eight game hot streak, into the first round. The Cardinals sit 24-2, and both teams boast undefeated conference slates.

First serve in the NCAA tournament is set for Thursday at 1:30 p.m at the University of Chicago.
