Not one team in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) has gotten the best of the University of Wisconsin-Superior (UWS) men’s tennis team so this season.
That effort, and 8-0 UMAC record, earned them the regular season conference title and the number one seed heading into the UMAC playoffs for the first time in program history.
"We’ve never won a title and have a one seed, but that’s us right now," senior Carter LaMont said. "It’s really definitely positive momentum going undefeated in the UMAC, gives us a leg up," he added about heading into the tournament.
"This is kind of what we prep for all season," head coach CeeJay Schaffner shared. "We started playing our best tennis at the end of the season. We had a tough non-conference schedule for this reason, it was just great to see everything fall into place."
The Yellowjackets serve up the UMAC playoffs Friday in Minneapolis where they’ll transition back from outdoor to indoor courts.
Their first opponent will be fourth seeded University of Minnesota Morris, who they’ve already beaten twice this season. Game is set for 6:30pm at the Baseline Tennis Center.
