Thursday University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) captain Noah Cates earned an invite to the U.S Olympic men’s hockey team.

He won’t be alone in representing the Bulldogs in a red, white, and blue sweater as former UMD goaldtending great Maddie Rooney once again landed on the U.S Olympic women’s hockey team roster.

"Obviously it’s great to have another Bulldog over there, maybe get some advice from her, her past Olympic experience. It would be good to know, to kind of go in with a little bit of experience," Cates said. "Obviously she’s done a lot for the women’s side and that’s super cool, but kind of looking forward to talking to her maybe a little bit and seeing what it’s like."

Rooney backstopped USA to a gold medal in the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympic games. The women drop the puck in Beijing February 3rd and the men Feb. 10th.
