UMD’s Fanti, Soderberg named Goalie of the Year award semifinalists

University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) men’s hockey’s Ryan Fanti and women’s hockey’s Emma Soderberg have been named semifinalists for national goalie of the year awards.

Soderberg is among the top 12 netminders up for the Women’s Hockey Commissioners Association 2022 Women’s Hockey Goalie of the Year honor. The senior currently boasts a .924 save percentage with a 14-7 record and four shutouts.

Fanti is one of 11 semifinalists now up for the 2022 Mike Richter Award. He is the only goalie from the National Collegiate Hockey Conference remaining. Appearing in 26 games so far this season he’s posted a .919 save percentage.

The winners will be announced during their respective NCAA Frozen Four tournaments, with the women’s in March and men’s in April.
