UMD’s Air Force ROTC stands watch for Veteran’s Day

UMD’s Air Force ROTC stood watch in observance of Veteran’s Day from midnight to midnight.

Two at a time, the cadets were stationed at the flagpole outside the front entrance of the Darland Administration Building.

Twenty-two cadets covered 48 half-hour shifts, enduring rain and snow.

Cadet First Lieutenant Kyle Jacobsen speaking about the importance of the day.

“There’s so many things we take for granted in this country,” he Jacobsen said. “I want to protect those freedoms. I think it’s important that we get out there and show the community, ‘Hey we’re here. We’re willing to stand up for those rights.’”
