UMD men’s hockey falls to Denver in NCAA Regional Final
The University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) men’s hockey team was taking on Denver University on Saturday afternoon, in the NCAA Regional Final. A trip to the Frozen Four in Boston was on the line.
Early on in the game it was the home squad Denver that would control the pace, out shooting UMD 8-1 at one point.
The goalie who came in with 3 shutouts in a row, Ryan Fanti however held down the fort.
On only their second shot of the game, Darian Gotz scored with a slap shot from the point. Putting the Bulldogs up 1-0.
Denver then would tie the game three minutes later with a goal from their captain, Cole Guttman.
It was a tight game going into the third as the second was scoreless.
Denver would then break the 1-1 tie with a goal with 6:16 left on the clock by Carter Savoie.
As the Bulldogs loss the close game by the final of 2-1, ending the season with a record of 22-16-4.
