UMD men move to No. 5, women hold on to No. 9 spot in latest USCHO poll

Both the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) men’s and women’s hockey teams maintained their status as top ten team’s in the nation in the latest U.S. College Hockey Online (USCHO.com) polls released on Monday.

Coming off a split series against No. 2 Ohio State University the Bulldog women gained sole possession of the No. 9 spot in the latest rankings. Last week they had shared the position with Harvard University. Now 8-6 overall UMD is back in action Friday visiting intra-state rival the University of Minnesota. Puck drop Friday in Minneapolis is set for 7:01pm.

Meanwhile the then-No. 1 UMD men suffered a sweep to Northern Michigan University over the weekend to drop to No. 5 in the latest poll. The Bulldogs (10-5-1) are expecting to see the return of starting goalie Ryan Fanti heading into this weekend’s home series against the University of Denver. Puck drop Friday at AMSOIL Arena is set for 7pm.
