UMD baseball secures season’s 1st home doubleheader sweep over Winona

On Monday the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) baseball team secured their first home doubleheader sweep of the season over Winona State University at Wade Stadium in Duluth.

The Bulldogs rallied from a four run deficit to defeat the Warriors 5-4 in game one. In game two they held off a late Winona comeback to win 6-4 and secure the sweep a day after dropping their home opener 6-3 to the Warriors.

Alex Wattermann hit the game winning RBI in game one, finishing the day with one run, four hits, and a RBI. Brandt Kolpack added three runs, three hits, and a RBI,

Next UMD (13-13) will host Winona State College for another Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) doubleheader Tuesday. First pitches are set for 9am and 11am at Wade Stadium.
