Miguel Sano has been activated by the Twins from his rehab assignment with OF Gilberto Celestino optioned to AAA-St. Paul, according to Twin Cities affiliate KSTP.
To make room for Sano on the 40-man roster, LHP Danny Coulombe has been moved to the 60-day injured list. Sano has been out since late April with a knee injury.
During Sano’s rehab assignment, he hit .333/.422/.795 with three doubles, five home runs, 11 RBIs and six walks between the Rookie-level Florida Complex League Twins (five games) and Triple-A St. Paul (seven). On Saturday, Sano went 3-for-3 with a homer and two RBIs for the Saints.
Sano’s three-year, $30 million contract is up in November, with the Twins likely to decline their $14M option for 2023.
