Tips on what to do when searching for missing pets

Animals are more than pets, they become a part of your family.

When a stray or pet is lost within Duluth City Limits, they will be brought to the city’s animal control. Strays or lost pets found within Hermantown, Southern St. Louis County, and Protector will go to Animal Allies.

One thing that has been able to reunite pets with their owners is with the help of microchips.

“The best thing that you can do as a pet owner is making sure that they are fully up to date with a microchip with active and accurate information. We offer that here, it is the number one way we reunited people with their pets,” says the Humane Education Manager at Animal Allies, Nicole Facciotto.

Getting photos and detailed information of your lost pet quickly out into the community, like on flyers and online is very helpful in spreading the message about the missing animal.

Different social media platforms, like the Facebook group Missing Pets in the Northland and The Retrievers, have helped reunite owners with their furry family members.
