The Tour DuLuth Ski Festival is back with so many skiing opportunities for the weekend including the cross country races for youth skiers.
4th grader Eilev was on the track Saturday loving the fun of the races. "It’s not as hard as I expected but yeah it’s fun”, Eilev says.
The event allowed young athletes to grow and enjoy the sport even more.
Co-Organizer Gary Larson says, “It’s pretty inspiring when you see these little kids just running around on skis, falling, getting up, and moving around. It’s just so natural. And seeing them developing those skills, that’s really what it’s all about for the youth skiers."
And when it comes to cross country Eilev is super passionate about the sport even competing in the Junior Birkebeiner Races.
"Well it’s a lot more effort than downhill but the good part is that there’s more races in it, because downhill you just go as fast as you can but in cross country you have to put more effort into it”, he says.
Parents and volunteers were having fun too cheering on in the sidelines. Larson says, “Well I mean all of us probably involved now were racers when we were younger. So it’s kind of our way of giving back and to see others developing their love for the sport just like we did it’s pretty satisfying."
