Strong 3rd period propels UWS men past UW-River Falls

After a scoreless first two periods the University of Wisconsin-Superior (UWS) men’s hockey team managed to pull off the 2-1 victory over the University of Wisconsin-River Falls in a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) battle Friday at Wessman Arena.

UWS’ Bradley Stonnell netted the first goal of the night in the third period with Zach Bannister tacking on another to lead 2-0. Brock Draeger scored the lone goal for the Falcons.

The Yellowjackets goaltender Myles Hektor finished the night with 15 saves.

UWS (5-3) is back in action Saturday, traveling to the University of Wisconsin-Stout. The opening faceoff from the Fannetti Community Center is set for 7 p.m.
