Storm Track Weather Update: Winter Storm affects linger Monday

The Northland’s first winter storm of the season has brought difficult travel conditions for the Monday morning commute.

TA Winter Weather Advisory will continue across much of the rest of the region until noon with blowing snow as the lingering impact to travel. A Winter Storm Warning continues for Douglas, Bayfield, and Ashland counties until 10 am, Iron County until noon, and for Gogebic and Ontonagon counties until 6 pm CST.

Additional accumulation will focus on the South Shore where the Winter Storm Warning will remain in effect with increasing amounts moving east.

Frigid air is plunging into the region behind the system responsible for the latest round of snow. Daily high temperatures for Monday were set overnight in the 20s. Temperatures drop into single digits in the morning and continue to fall with Duluth having a temperature near zero by this evening.

Northwest winds will be the strongest in the morning with gusts upwards of 40 mph at times. This will bring wind chills near -20. Winds gradually improve through the day.
