There will be some new construction happening at St. Luke’s Lakeview Building. St. Luke’s Obstetrics and Gynecology Associates will be moving from their current at Northland Medical Center to the third floor of the St. Luke’s Lakeview Building. The new clinic will cost $4.5. million dollars.

The expansion will double the size of the clinic and enhance the patient experience. The new clinic will be more modernized and create more levels of comfort and other needs for patients. “Not only will it offer patients a great experience, it will allow us to create more access for our patients to get the services they want,” said Lori Swanson, St. Luke’s Director of Women’s and Children’s Services.

The new clinic will allow more patients to receive services, says Claire Mallor, MD, FACOG, an OBGYN at St. Luke’s Obstetrics and Gynecology Associates.

"Our clinical space was needing more space to accommodate our patients as well as accommodate the volume of patients we have and the number of providers. The clinic initially was a small group and it’s a larger group now. We have eight physicians, three midwives, five advanced care practitioners, so we needed more space also to accommodate more patients with special needs,” says Dr. Mallor.

The new space will have an overlook of Lake Superior. There will be larger labs and exam rooms, an increase from 15 to 24. Also included will be a designated non-stress testing room and breastfeeding pods.

Construction in the new area begins in the spring, and the clinic will open in its new space in January 2023.
