Some fireworks allowed in Thunder Bay through New Year’s Day

Residents of Thunder Bay can set off low-hazard fireworks through New Year’s Day without a permit.

According to Thunder Bay Fire Rescue, the city allows residents to set off low-hazard fireworks for a private display on their own property on December 31, New Year’s Day, and the three days immediately preceding December 31.

A permit is required for all other dates, public displays, locations other than private residential properties, and for certain types and classifications of fireworks.
