The Hibbing Youth Football program has opened registration for their ‘Cornhole for a Cause’ fundraiser on May 7.

The purpose of the bags tournament will be to help offset the costs of upgrading equipment for 5th and 6th grade tackle players.

The program state that "last year was the first time in five years that we offered tackle for this age group, but we only had enough equipment to safety suit 25 kids."

Coordinator Tony Potter went on to add, "we have roughly 50 kids interested in the program this year so we need to purchase more equipment plus replace existing equipment to avoid turning kids away. We could raise registration fees, but prefer not to put more burden on the parents because we don’t want to deter some kids from playing."

The event begins at 10am Saturday, May 7 at Palmer’s Tavern (1717 3rd Ave., Hibbing). It costs $50 per team, with a 64 team max, and cash payouts for first, second and third place.
