Proctor/Hermantown rallies past Orono to return to Class A championship

The Proctor/Hermantown girls hockey team scored four goals against Orono Friday to claim victory in the Class A state semifinal game at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.

The third seeded Mirage (21-7-1), and defending state champions, rallied to down second seeded Orono (25-4) 4-1 and secure their spot back in the Class A title game.

Orono scored first early in the first period, then Hannah Graves would score the tying goal right away in the third period. Reese Heitzman scored the go-ahead goal for the Mirage with Jane Eckstrom adding another. Heitzman put away an empty netter to secure the 4-1 victory.

The Mirage will now get an opportunity to secure their second straight Class A state championship on Saturday. They will face the winner of top-seeded Warroad and fourth seeded South St. Paul.
