Prep Hockey: Proctor/Hermantown wins section title rematch, Duluth East boys top Superior

In prep hockey Wednesday, the Proctor/Hermantown girls and Duluth East boys earned late season wins.

At the St. Luke’s Sports and Event Center. No. 3 Proctor/Hermantown held off No. 9 Duluth Marshall 2-1 in a rematch of last year’s Section 7A championship game, where the Mirage won 6-0 to advance to the state tournament.

The Mirage improve to 16-7-1 heading into their regular season finale Thursday in Superior at 7pm. Duluth Marshall (14-7) will host Thief River Falls for their regular season finale Saturday at 1:30pm.

At Wessman Arena the Duluth East boys powered past Superior winning 5-2. Trailing 2-1 after the second period the Greyhounds scored four goals in the third, including a hat-trick from Cole Christian, to improve to 5-13-1 on the season. George Hansen and Robert Powell scored for the Spartans on senior night as they fall to 6-14-1.
