In prep hockey Thursday night the Cloquet-Esko-Carlton (CEC) boys skated past Duluth Marshall, while No. 11 Moose Lake Area girls notched an overtime win visiting the Duluth Northern Stars.

The CEC boys downed Duluth Marshall 4-2. During the first intermission at Mars Lakeview Arena the Hilltoppers honored their late, longtime head coach Brendan Flaherty. The team unveiled a piece of artwork to commemorate his more than 20 year career as head coach. Flaherty passed away in 2021 at age 57 after a battle with throat cancer.

At Heritage Arena, Jorja Jusczak scored in overtime lifting Moose Lake to a 2-1 win over Duluth. Rebel freshman goalie Mallory Hartl made 50 saves. Kaelin Cochran scored the sole goal for Duluth. With the win the Rebels improve to 14-4-1.
