Prep Hockey: Denfeld boys win home opener, Proctor/Hermantown shuts out GRG

In prep hockey on Thursday, the Duluth Denfeld boys picked up a win for their home opener while the Proctor/Hermantown girls shut out Grand Rapids/Greenway (GRG).

At the Duluth Heritage Center Denfeld downed Cloquet-Esko-Carlton (CEC) 6-2 thanks to two goals from Whittaker Heart and two goals and an assist from Connnor McLure. Patrick Dunaiski and Daine Painovich each score for the Lumberjacks. The Hunters improve to 4-2 while CEC falls to 2-3.

In Hermantown the Proctor/Hermantown Mirage secured the 4-0 shutout victory over the Grand Rapids/Greenway Lightning. Hannah Graves scored two goals in the first period helping the Mirage improve to 4-3-1 on the season. GRG falls to 6-3.
